Now and Then
We
are told to be wary of things
unknown
Told not to walk to the mall
alone
Why? Because we women are
prone
To the assaults, attempts, a sniff
of cologne
The things that many others do
condone
We,
we live our
lives unnoticed
Every shot at us is one
blow missed
We are careful and we are
focused
Trying to live our lives as the
lowest
But maybe it’s time that we
rewrote it
It’s time
for the world to learn from
the past
That women may no longer be
harassed
That right and wrong are
such a contrast
Maybe next time we will be
asked
We can breathe a sigh, the
danger passed
We
can be free to live our
lives again
No longer will we have to
bargain
The love, an
overflowing fountain
That will be the difference between
Now and Then
