Poisonwood

the first part

silence always          the birds away from

                       tucks               disaster


her only secret. her favorite place.


black tipped stilts

                          curled on the water


the second part

behind them the curtain of trees

                         

is familiar.


              shadows twitch where devils fly.


The author's comments:

This piece began as a cross out poem but has since evolved into a free verse piece inspired by my emotions at the time of my writing it. Poisonwood paints the vague picture of a eerie location. One where silence is the protector and trees provide a curtain of familiarity.
