\"I was getting along with everything fine, I accepted it! And then you happened.\"
-A Walk to Remember

The hours pass by very slowly
When you're in a waiting room.
Knowing that the one you love
May face their utter doom.

When you're in a waiting room,
You know you must be ready.
For any news that will come
And a life that won't be steady.

When you're in a waiting room,
You think of all the times,
The good and the bad.
When you laughed,
When you cried
And all the times you were sad.
You think that they are poinitless,
That now they have no meaning.

When you're in a waiting room,
You know what you must do.
You wait for the new
And cry the blues
When you're in a waiting room.

The author's comments:
This poem is about my sixth grade year, when my dad had gotten extremely sick with a liver disease. He's well now, and he's home with us. But it was a long, hard 16 months of hospitals and nursing homes. My teacher submitted this to Ink Spot, and it was published. Please, give me positive feedback. It's always welcome.

Very powerful; the emotion is very strong. The one thing I would do is add more graphic imagery - instead of saying "cry the blues," describe the tears running down the narrator's face. instead of telling someone what they think, describe it.

I loved the repetition - it added emphasis and a ring to the poem.

Good job!

I'd love if you took a look at my poetry. thanks! :D
