You might have heard bad things in you life,

depression, oppression, suppression, strife.

Homelessness, poverty, disease.

Never cry, never tease.

Sticks and stones don't break my bones,

Watch people's tones.

People tell me I will die

some tell me I'm immortal, don't lie.

Racism tells me I'm another one

Why am I inferior, what have I done?

But that doesn't mean humans are all bad.

They're not. Maybe sad.

Maybe mad. But I'll be glad.

I know feelings aren't the next fad.

And one day I'll say.

Show a shining ray.

What's right

and fight

for light

take flight

give clarity

offer charity.

I will release a flood.

That curdles your blood.

For illumination.

A sensation.

No confusion.

I guarantee it's real.

I know because I feel.

I don't want to live forever

you know I want to be remembered

Just remembered.

After all,

The higher you go the farther you fall

faster

Sitting on a pedestal, sitting high.

Look, I can fly!

After all twice is how much you die.

One when your breath leaves.

Another when people stop uttering your name. Please!

I will only die once.

I will not be a dunce.

I will be remembered perpetually,

no decisions made impetuosly.

But what do I know, after all

I can't thiink that high, mighty, tall.

You know,

I'm only human.
