Time Poem
I can’t stop it as much as I would love to.
The clock just keeps ticking.
The repetitive clicking of every second is continuous.
Knowing time is running out is terrifying and strenuous.
Absolutely petrifying, hands shaking in fear.
I intend to survive this while I’m still here breathing.
I pretend to thrive from this while internally screaming.
I close my eyes dreaming, hoping to prosper.
I can hear the monster in the room next door getting stronger.
My time is running out, he’ll be here soon.
The humming he’s doing is psychopathic.
He’s going to wreak havoc upon me I know it.
Photographic images race through my mind when I was safe at home.
This was no more, my life will be ending soon.
He opens the door holding a knife sending fear down my spine.
I look up at the clock one last time.
