You Are Only What You Become
Cotton candy fills the sky
While milkshakes
And hot dogs
Adorn the table
Red
White
And blue
Burst flames through the open fields
The eagle flies above the earth
Spread wings
Open heart
Full of power
Majesty
And might
Insects flout above the surface
Dancing in time to the fog surrounding them
While fish
Many fish
Make a dance of their own
Swaying to the movement of the gentle current
And there I stand
Alone
Waiting
Hoping
Wishing
Dreaming
Laughing
Crying
Wondering
If I were a bird
If I were a fish
If I were an eagle
A flame
A color
A dream
A wish
Would I feel the same?
Love the same?
Care the same?
The sun begins to fade as I stare back over the open sea of dreams
As it fades
So do I.
Fading slowly
Quickly
Like a flower
Who is here today
And gone tomorrow.
