Favorite Quote:
"Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us." Pride and Prejudice

They reveal a face to the world,
That is not their own.
Their oppressive masks,
Falsely drive others away.
Human beings…,
Strange creatures they are.

The shy;
Those who cloak themselves with silence.
No one can see,
The potential they hold hidden away.
When left abandoned;
they prosper.

The egotistical;
Those who flourish from their total self-satisfaction.
Grasping inflated esteem;
The plaque builds.
Peerless;
the reverence erodes.
They show a face to the world,
That is not their own.

The triumphant;
Those who thrive solely on achievements.
Exaggerated praise,
Distorts their past.
Deserted;
Failure devours them.

The depressed;
Those who dwell upon the sorrows of their lives.
Seeking nothing but a release,
They wander the Earth;
Dejection looming over them.
Through the desolate clouds,
They linger upon a faint light;
Hope.
Their mask,
Falsely drives others away.

The fearless;
Those who shield themselves with valiance.
Their fallacious durability,
Withers as others turn away.
A susceptible creature,
Is unleashed.

Strange creatures…
Human beings are.
Falsely driving others away,
With their oppressive masks.
Revealing a face to the world…,
That is not their own.
