Creeping and crawling they come, 

Through the cracks of consciousness, 

Inevitable and unknowable, bound by none,

No way to shut them out,

Whispering and whimpering they come, 

Claws clattering in the thoughtless abyss,  

Grinning without faces, watching with eyes none, 

No way to shut them out,

Salivating and slithering they come,

Their daggers of deception are sharpened,  

They hunger for lies and bring truths none,

No way to shut them out, 

The demons inside and out; they come,

From the corners of the mind, they emerge, 

Hissing and howling with mouths none,

No way to shut them out,

Borne on contorted limbs they come,

With soundless wails and gnashing teeth,

Filled with bloodlust and compassion none,

No way to shut them out,

No way to fight them,

No way to stay them, 

No way to slay them, 

All that is left is to embrace them.
