My Golden Necklace

My 14 karat golden chain

With a golden thin cable of chain

Holding a sterling silver B and a golden name

With a sterling silver heart between a swirly lane

Behind it holds the birth of a dark brown-eyed

daughter, with a golden smile as they always say

With an impermeable golden dotted barrier

That will always identify who I am

Holding it up with a lobster clasp

Never letting the golden daughter fall away

Oh my 14 karats golden chain

How long has it been since you and me

have been golden friends

17 years seems long ago but I’ll

Never forget the day you and I were

created and firstborn as golden friends

At first, your heaviness weighed on me

but after 17 years of growing

Your heaviness became light as a

feather never belittling me since a child

Oh my golden chain it has been

A while since you were last seen

A bit scratched up but still in good shape

My parents never underestimated

you to represent the golden child’s name

And I’ll always remember the memories

of being golden friends

Now, that I’ve grown these past

years, your too little for me to stay

Now, it’s time to put you away

But I’ll keep you safe and I’ll always

remember the day we met
