Hope is a little girl, she lives in a city she is the longing that burns within me

hope is a little girl with striving goals, she lives with her family inside a hole

a hole they dig out of, a hole that takes them

a hole they feed, a hole that consumes them

out of its greed, out of its boredom

they want to be free

the hole is dispair

she tries to protect them, although she's only a kid, she just wants to help, she wants to fight it.

despair is the monster under her bed

"its not real, it can't hurt us, it's all in your head"

thats what she's told, that is the " truth"

But it can hurt us, spiritually and emotionally to.

she is afraid to lose it all, she is afraid to let them fall.

though she can't control it, not quite yet

Maybe whein she's older it won't be a threat. That's what she tells herself, that's what she longs for, that when she is older there will be more to strive for

dont let her be lost not to this beast, let her be lost only to her dreams.

In this poem hope is expressed as a young girls perseverance in times of despair. Ultimately, it is the hope she hangs onto in order to achieve her dreams nomatter the difficulty she might face.
