A Helping of Courage, Please

Oh, give me a helping
of courage please,
I pray
For fear has struck
this heart of mine
because this sketch of love
has changed
into a painting
of only beauty
so confusion holds
and it’s teeth sink deep
it’s feral breath comes ragged
but holds on tight
fight or flight?
I try to ignore this bird
Taking wing
So give me
a helping of courage
Please
To go into the unknown
I’ll swallow it down like boulders!
