No one in my family has ever had my name. My name is random. My parents pulled it out of the air and decided that is who I am. An original. One of a kind. One who will bring change. An uncharted ocean that is being explored more every day. In Welsh, my name means “Son of the Sea”, but in English it means nothing more than just another name. But my name has a special meaning that others don’t see.

Like my name’s Welsh origin, it is an endless dark blue stormy ocean, full of mystery. A single boat braving the storm, fighting against the forces of nature, hoping to get back home.  The whitecap waves stretching towards the sky threatening to pull it in. It is the

dark depths where man has not explored. The creatures only seen in legends.

My name is also the great ocean of space. Countless galaxies to explore. The endless array of stars, dotted on a black canvas. Endless area to discover.

To other people, Dylan is a meaningless name. Just another assortment of letters assigned to me at birth. But I see what they cannot. I am an original, mapping out the unexplored ocean of my life. A unique story that no one else can tell. That is the power of my name.
