Boom!
The empty bed brings back the memories
I play the scene in my mind
Over and over and over
Like a bad TV commercial
Or a re-run you've seen hundred times over
The tires screeching
World spinning
Boom they hit
Metal crunches
Glass breaks
I hear a scream
Was it me?
Sirens come roaring
He whispers
"I love you"
His dying words
My vision blurs
Is this the end?
If so I'll say it quick
"I love you too"
My world goes black
Forever? Possibly
Forever? Hopefully
My wish is not granted
I awake to a sterilized room of white
At first I am scared
Then I understand
I look to my left to see if he's there
My world shatters into pieces never to be put back together
All that sits there is an empty bed.
