Rain like ice numbs the mind
Leave all your thoughts behind
Second hand comes undone
That's how you know it's time to run

People stare as you pass
Ignore your relfection in the glass
Concrete rumbles beneath your feet
Have to go before destruction's complete

You only have a narrow chance
But don't give quitting a second glance
Tonight you prove all your worth
Do it right, and it's like rebirth

He's waiting at the street's new end
Waiting just around the bend
Your heart pounds like a bongo drum
Singing out a shallow thrum

A smile spreads across your face
You made it by some saving grace
He looks up with disbelief
But all you know now is relief

All is right in his embrace
Thanks you for running that race
You don't think of it as hard
He was worth every single yard
