If you take from me what is mine
Gone are smoothies, chocolate shakes
Or tuna salad wedged in rye
Or peanut butter, berry jam
Or sugar drinks or greasy fries
If you take from me what is mine
Gone are soothing lullabies
No slumber deep, or dreams of skies
No healthy tug, when eyelids shut
Awake a babe of morning’s pride
If you take from me what is mine
Gone are my contented sighs
Or fast paced step, staccato speech
Or shimmer glossing cracked, thin lips
A pinkish glow, a fair disguise
Someone will notice, someone will know
If you take from me what is mine
Someone will see, and recognize
The empty shells that were my eyes
The hurt that hides behind the line
If you take from me what is mine
They’ll know my pain
And they’ll despise
The fiend who dared to take away
The gift I held, so pure, benign
Knowing that I have no more
What
Was
Mine

So deep, so beautiful. It's really intense. I love the line "The empty shells that were my eyes". LOVE IT!!!
