Let answers find you.

My feet whisked me across the the wooden path,

To the impatient boat; with every inch it swam,

My heart pounded.

Finally I’m close - and I’m so close - enough to kiss the sheen!

My hand tugs my bags, softly weighing them.

I’m ready, I’m almost there -

The world stops.

My heart faltered. My blood drains from my face,

Leaving me cold and helpless,

Practically crying out “You’re dead.”

My lungs shake, my breath shudders.

I didn’t, for a second, realize what the matter was but…

Oh.

My.

GOD!

Oh my god I LEFT IT AT HOME!!

Oh my lord, how am I supposed to leave this infernal place,

If I. Don’t. HAVE IT?!

Oh, the profanity.

The Hell!

I should’ve made a godforsaken list!

My mother was always telling me to - AAGH!

I was doing so good, how could I have screwed up this time?!

My life depended on it! I’m so stupid!!

I heard my luggage crash to the floor with a thud.

Then, a honk from the boat; my quivering body jumped.

No, no wait, please, I’m coming!

Sniff, no, the dock’s already retracting!

“Oh God, give me a second chance, please!” I cried.

I’m not that moronic, I promise…

I wipe my face with my sleeve,

Soiling the clean fabric I hoped to proudly display to the boatmen.

I turn my face and see someone.

Holding a sketchbook. Staring at me.

My pounding pulse launches my hands up to my cheeks.

My cold face now blushing mad red with embarrassment.

The man, clad in a stained brown coat, flees.

Leaving me a blubbering fish, like I’d seen a ghost.

My ragdoll form hugs the wood.

My tears soil the material further.
