Love?
Lover. Hover. Shover
To challenge, to win, to fail, to hope for another
Is to hold love in highest regard.
Its test is loss, contradiction,
Pain great and hard.
‘Tis unlike a crush which has no noble hand
And leaves the heart a Hindenburg zep:
Too large and prone to fire’s demand.
Similarly dissimilar to addiction,
Which freezes mind without a word.
Inventing a cult of secretive lust
Glorifying cowardice obliviously absurd.
The latter to the puberty-stricken fool;
The former is the mind of a child.
But first and foremost is the breed of love
That makes heart tame and mild.
