We both stare, eyes boring. I stare through his eyes, glare sharp daggers. 

He hates me. I lean forward, he matches me, disgust showing.

I lash out, my fist meets his face. Falling glass cuts, and my hand bleeds.


The author's comments:

This piece follows the traditionally Korean form of poetry known as Sijo. Similar to the Japanese Haiku, it follows a pattern of syllables across three lines.
