Feelings After Seizures // POEM
You feel it coming on
Will I make it?
You wonder
Uncontrollable movements
Fear
Praying for it to all be over
Even though you're not religious.
Go away.
Go away.
Go away.
Waking up
Disoriented
Confused
Embarrassed
Angry
Go away.
Go away.
Go away.
Your life after
Living in constant fear
Anxious
Feeling sick whenever you think about it
But you can't stop thinking about it
Like a fly following you
Constantly buzzing
It never stops.
Go away.
Go away.
Go away.
Endless trips to the neurologist
MRI's and E.E.G.'s
Doctors smiling at you
But there's nothing to smile about.
Go away.
Go away.
Go away.
There's a special kind of fear
One that only people who have experienced seizures can understand
A feeling of impending doom
Go away.
Go away.
Go away.

I don't know if this counts as a poem? I tried my best. I hope this is relatable for other kids with epilepsy, but everyone's experience is different.
