Ode To The Forest
Ode To The Forest
What an honor it would be to join you
Peaceful giants
Agents of decay
May you grow over my body
When I have lived my last day
May mushrooms grow
On my fingertips
May moss grow thick
On the expanse of my hips
To rejoin the forest on my last mortal day
To rejoin the creatures
To rejoin the fey
Trees and roots become my bones
Rivers and creeks become my veins
Moss becomes my muscles
Foliage for brains
What an Honor it would be to join you.

I wanted to write a poem about returning to nature and becoming at peace with myself there. I find the forest really calming, as I spent so much time in ir growing up, so this felt like an ode to an old friend.
