Drowning
Such lilac stuttered eyes.
Insomnia disordering the brain.
The body swayed left,
halting,
swayed right.
Island breeze swept.
Boat crept.
Sickness lept.
Overboard plunging to depths,
of fleeting electricity.
Icy cold,
shivering mayhem.
Submerged underneath,
liquid glass.
tapping…
cracking…
But not
relenting.
Caged from
airways.
Deprived of
oxygen.
Dissolving
infatuation.
Reaching;
Rejection.
Encaptured
under your
enraptured
stare.
I sink.

I was tasked to write a love poem but wanted to add a twist. A girl who's in love but who has feelings that aren't mutually reciprocated. Yet, she's still being dragged along and cannot seem to be released from this sense of admiration for him. This eventually leads to her demise as she begins to realize the truth of his intentions, and as a result, her emotions for him begin to fade. In reality, he does not care for her but only the attention he receives. Is it too late for her, however? Has she already gone too far when it comes to committing her efforts to him?
