Flight of Hope - by Sage R.
Taking a chance at life, and spreading your wings,
Embracing the joys and opportunities life may bring.
Your peers are ready, hear the celebration-induced sound,
The modicum of distant chatter, as their webbed feet depart the ground.
Racing to be next, springing to take flight,
Confusion paralyzes you, what aren’t you doing right?
The continuous procrastination and lingering doubt,
The barrier of worry, roaming all about.
Yes, you have wings, we’re well aware,
But is that all it takes to propel in the air?
You lack fundamentals that you must obtain,
You also must learn to fly through snow and rain.
You must not get discourages or frozen in mind,
You have to be quick, worry is a thief of time.
After doing what you could, and applying what you know,
When you crash to the extent, there’s only room to grow.
You must speak it into existence, and take to the sky,
Don’t question your ability, or ponder about the “why”.
You have to cultivate courage, and trust yourself,
Cause’ only you can do it for you, no one else.
Put a halt to the pessimist and marinate in hope,
Lunge into the sky, and to a place of serenity, elope.

- I wrote this piece in the hospital. I typically write about how I feel- putting my thoughts to words, which tend to end up on the depressing side of things. So, I was tasked with writing a positive poem. I wrote this while I was preparing myself, and fighting to get out the hospital, despite not being in the best place mentally. I was struggling with many challenges, and I decided to just push through and write in the format of possibilities and what I could achieve if I put my mind to it. I hope this helps in any way, or just motivates anyone to keep pushing in the face of adversity. Take the chance, and leap at your dreams and goals. No matter what you're going through, there will always be a turnaround, things will improve. You're strong, loved, and deserving.
