I gave you the benefit of the doubt.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt,
Believed in your words, beyond a shadow of clout.
But now I see the truth, your lies unfurled,
In a web of deception, you have skillfully whirled.
You painted a picture, so vivid and bright,
Of a love that's eternal, like stars in the night.
But now I realize it was all just a show,
A mirage of affection, with nowhere to go.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt,
Thought you were different, something to be sought.
In your promises, I had placed my trust,
But you shattered it all, leaving only dust.
You played with my heart, like a master of games,
Leaving scars on my soul, with no one to blame.
Now I'm left picking up the pieces we had,
While you move on, as if nothing was bad.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt,
But now I see what you were truly about.
A charmer who dances on heartbroken souls,
Leaving a trail of destruction, as your story unfolds.
But I've learned my lesson, I won't be deceived,
I won't let your lies make me feel naïve.
For in the end, truth always reveals,
The ones who are genuine, from those who just steal.
So goodbye to the doubts, I hold my head high,
Moving past the deceit, as the days go by.
You may have fooled me once, but never again,
I'll trust my instincts, and find love that won't bend.
