The Girl Over There
Do you see that girl over there?
She sits on that bench from four to nine every afternoon.
Some say she’s watching.
Some say she’s waiting.
Watching for something incredible.
Waiting for something more.
Do you see that girl over there?
She has always been so great.
She’s too beautiful to hurt.
Too graceful to fall.
Do you see that girl over there?
She’s beautiful.
But she’s smothered by the unreal.
She tries every day to feel like one in a million.
But finds it harder and harder to go against the crowd.
For her greatest fear, is getting lost in it.
Do you see that girl over there?
When she stands…
The respect she commands because she doesn’t give up.
Her heart shouts to the heavens.
While her soul searches for another time.
Another time to what?
Save somebody’s life?
Find the meaning of life?
Fall in love?
She doesn’t know.
So she sits there every day from four to nine.
Watching
And waiting.
For life.
