"Numquam finitur, donec vita finiatur."
- K. D'Angelo Alexander

Quiet, because no one will listen

And when they do, they still don't hear

Quiet, always listening, so many problems

I couldn't list them; all could be fixed, with a listening ear

Quiet, because of suppression

Silenced, a form of oppression

"You don't talk much," "He's kind of weird"

How can one know so much, if they never come near?

Quiet, since nobody cares

Years of abuse, is why I'm "so easy to scare"

Maybe, if someone listened,

Then I might still be here

Dead, because why live a life, when you don't exist?

"He was so nice," "I had a feeling. . ."

They never knew me, but they might've known,

Had they seen my wrists

Or taken the time to ask, "How are you?"

And actually listen

Silent; dead men tell no tales

I wouldn't be dead, if they just listened

The author's comments:

This poem is about a young man's suicide, triggered by abuse and the lack of people caring.

If you, or someone you know are contemplating suicide, please be aware that you are never alone.

There are always people who care, sometimes they are just hard to find.

Take time out of your day to ask someone how they are really doing, if they seem "off," or sad, and actually listen to what they have to say.

You don't have to do this only for people who seem "down," because sometimes it is those who are seemingly happy, who are doing the worst out of all of us.
