Love is a Thousand
Love, a word of a thousand meanings
For a thousand cosmic crafts
From my heart's yearnings to greed's gold earnings
And blissful mem'ries long past.
Delights of tongue, stomach, mind
And wonders beheld by the eye
A mother's embrace, a beautiful face
And the evening's pink clouds in the sky.
My soulful bliss, my sense of wonder
Beholds my woman's eyes of ember
The purrs of a cat, warm on my lap
And melancholic chats with forgotten friends.
Faces remembered, experiences to come
An ancient song, eternally sung
A thousand emotions, but only one word
For a thousand delights in our lonely world.
I often ponder upon those four letters
For if Love is a thousand, does it all matter?
If we love so much, then what remains?
Has a thousand emotions left our Love drained?
So then once more, I look at the world
And look for the meaning of this ellusive word
And there lies the red thread of fate 'tween it all
And unity sings an angelic call.
Now I hear that ancient song once again
Echoing a neverending refrain
A thousand emotions, and one lovely word
For all that's delightful in every world.

Isn't in strange how the English language uses the word "love" for so many things? You can love food, you can love a good book, you can love your dog, you can love your family, your partner, your spouse... the list goes on. At first, I thought this made the word weaker, but through writing this poem I found that perhaps there is a beauty in it. Perhaps this makes the word "love" even stronger, as it serves to connect so much to our hearts with just a single world.
