My Thoughts, My Culture
In the heart of El Salvador, where the mountains meet the sea,
Where the culture thrives with vibrancy, and the spirits roam free,
There lies a tale of flavor, in every dish we share,
A fusion of traditions, with love and pride we wear.
Beneath the mango trees, and the breeze that gently sways,
We gather 'round the table, where Salvadorian cuisine lays.
With pupusas sizzling on the grill, and tamales wrapped with care,
We feast upon our heritage, a bounty rich and rare.
From the lively mercado to the pueblos beauty,
We honor ancient customs, with reverence for them all.
With each festivity and fiesta, with each dance and song we hear,
We celebrate our roots, our culture shining clear.
So let us raise our glasses, with horchata sweet and cool,
For in our Salvadorian spirit, we find strength to rule.
With food and customs binding us, as tightly as can be,
We'll journey into tomorrow, with pride in our ancestry.

I am a high school Student at East-West School of International Studies, where I also created this piece of poetry in hopes of spreading the culture's richness from the perspective of a citizen of said culture. One of my hobbies involves writing and reading, and through the lens of many famous writers from my culture I was inspired to make a short poem about my experience as a Salvadorian. Thank you so much for reading my submission; I welcome your feedback.
Sincerely,
Daniel M.
