Sitting at home,

Alone with my baby,

She's wrapped in pink,

No crying, not lately.

A car pulls up,

It's incredibly late,

Guess whose home?

My Childs awake.

I rush to her room,

Lay her down in her crib,

Cover her up,

Sealed with a kiss.

The door slams open,

He screams my name,

Demands my presence,

Again, all the same.

I look at my child,

One last time,

Gently close the door,

Tears fill my eyes.

I straighten my posture,

Walk down the hall,

What did I do now?

Nothing at all.

He's staring at me,

Eyes like fire,

I tell him I love him,

He calls me a liar.

He strikes my cheek,

Sends me down to the floor,

He's screaming at me,

Calls me a whore.

The baby starts crying,

He smiles at me,

He heads toward her room,

I tell him to leave.

He turns his attention,

From our baby to me,

He walks over slowly,

Staring down, disbelief.

He grasps my hair,

Pulls me up to my feet,

Face to face,

Whispers so sweet.

His breath smells of beer,

As he tells me,

My fears,

Are all about to be.

He strikes me again,

Shoves me down on the floor,

Her crying is heard,

From behind the door.

He's hit me so hard,

Every bone has a break,

But the love for my baby,

The pain I can take.

I stumble to the kitchen,

Reach for the knife,

If he takes my child,

I'll take his life.

Nothing will harm her,

I've promised her that,

Each night that I hold her,

My promise is kept.

Her crying has stopped,

No sounds anymore,

He starts screaming at baby,

My heart falls to the floor.

The pain is so great,

I rush to her room,

I gasp at the sight,

Of the scene that I view.

He's holding my child,

Fingers around neck,

His eyes going wild,

Shaking her violently yet.

I run to my baby,

Remove her from his grasp,

I nestle her close,

Her touch makes me glad.

She opens her eyes,

Looks directly at me,

She starts to cry,

Ever so softly.

Her small, fragile body,

Bears no scars

I pray to god,

It won't be hard.

I won't let her go,

I won't put her down,

Here in my arms,

She'll always be found.

Nothing will touch her,

From here on out,

She is my life,

What i'm all about.

He's coming closer,

With each step he takes,

He swears and curses,

What a sight we must make.

I move my baby,

Out of way of harm,

I raise the knife,

With my broken arm.

He looks confused,

Personality two,

He has no idea,

What i'm about to do.

Closer and closer,

My hand grips the knife,

For me and my daughter,

I'll fight for life.

Nothing ever,

Will hurt her again,

The monster that made her,

Soon will be dead.

The closer he gets,

The adrenaline rush,

He mumbles on,

How i'm too much.

I sink the knife,

Far into the ground,

The point so sharp,

He stumbles around.

Holding my baby,

All will be right,

Comforting her,

Early morning, late night.

He's so drunk,

Nothing is left,

With the knife in the ground,

He falls to his death.
