Only The Sun
What did that day out in the field mean to you?
Bubbles bursting in your stomach, too?
As a subordinate
to only the Sun,
you sat by me
and waited lustfully
for the rest of the day,
which came in moments
spread out across our own sunlit plains
(much like cherished artifacts,
mysterious and ancient,
hanging in your Grandmother’s dusty house
that look so old
and feel so new).
We knew, in the hours to come, that this place would grow
defiant
and flee.
Until then,
you sat by me
and ignored the shade
for a day beneath only the Sun.
