Love, Your Big Sister
I was there when you were born
And I waited,
Mouth and eyes full of impatience
Nose scrunched up, waiting.
I remember when Daddy put you in my arms
And took our picture.
Then when Mommy said you had my face.
Neither one would let me name you after me.
I thought it was a good idea.
Now, I sit and watch you grow
I remember your first words
And I remember the face I made when I was asked to change you diaper.
I bought you your first crayons
And tried to mold you into mini-me.
I put loved to fixed your hair
Whether you wanted me to or not
I'll be here to help you up when you fall
When you can't figure out your Algebra
Or spell a word
Or when you just want to talk.
I love to play your games,
And I love to read your stories.
I still have every picture you've given me,
My little love.
