Pink Paper Heart
A pink paper heart
Frothy with ribbon and covered in lace
Pictures of me and you,
A smile on our faces.
A flash from the creek
Where our lips first touched
When we found out one's just not enough
And whoevers on the other end
Made us so much more than friends
Out of the city
And into the stars
We're not just me and you
We are we and we are
Each others
Star-crossed lovers
All my flaws are in plain sight
But your blinded by the light
You only see perfection
in my eyes
Like lace I quivered in the breeze
frightened there was an opening
To my heart
My guard might be slipping
Then as my face reached the sun
And the water reflects what I've become
I begin to realize
Maybe that's not such a bad thing.
