I have this friend
Who is not really my friend
We enjoy each other
And laugh with one another
We joke and have fun....
We do a lot together:
I write, she writes
I draw, she draws
I paint, she paints
I laugh, she laughs
Now I'm not complaining
I'm merely stating facts
This poem is my life
Of an endless idea:
I play an instrument, she plays an instrument
I play a sport, she plays the same sport
I go for a jog, she goes for a run
I like a boy, she dates that boy
It's a girl on girl war
With dozens of miniscule battles
Only I'm the commander
And she's the soldier:
I write a story, she writes a story
I loose weight, she looses weight
I know two languages, she learns one
What a stressful job she has
I almost feel sorry
Then I remember that
I can't get away from her oozing eyes
She's jealous, insecure, or trying to outshine me
I'm in my own room
And she comes to find me
She's my shadow
Only coming out when I'm shinning
I can't rid of her
She's always right behind me
