Widening eyes look out to sea
For he was there
Fighting for words
I thought of faces
The faces of death
Death still takes him
Farther and farther out to sea
I squint
Still looking for the coffin
A little gray dot
Tears escape me
I run dry
I hear the murmurs
“Poor girl.”
Love is dead
At least mine is
