happily ever forever
They said,
If you can’t get someone out of your head,
Then maybe they’re supposed to be there,
But I had already decided you were dead to me

I remember how you,
Left me outside in the cold,
Tears running down my cheeks,
And no one to hold,
So why do I keep thinking back,
To how we used to be

I remember how you swept me off my feet,
The dozen roses and the love songs,
Oh how sweet,
I remember movies every Friday night,
Every word of all those stupid fights,
And midnight calls,
About the silliest things,
Just to say you loved me
I remember laughing when I handed in,
A test or homework or an essay,
Giggling and saying,
I wonder what the teacher thinks,
When your name is written in hearts,
All over my papers,
I remember the songs we used to sing,
I remember sitting side by side not saying,
Anything,
I remember everybody’s whispers,
And the looks they gave,
When they thought that we weren’t looking,
The funny thing is,
I don’t remember a single thing bout you,
Or anything bout me,
All I remember is us

Laying in bed late at night,
It’s a constant,
Never ending fight,
Just to keep you out of my head,
Because I already decided you were dead to me

So why can’t I believe it’s true,
That I’m over you

In writing class the next day,
The teacher said,
Just drift away,
And write about the first thing,
That comes into your head,
She didn’t know how dangerous that freedom could be,
Especially to me,
Because now

I remember how you swept me off my feet,
The dozen roses and the love songs,
Oh how sweet,
I remember movies every Friday night,
Every word of all those stupid fights,
And midnight calls,
About the silliest things,
Just to say you loved me
I remember laughing when I handed in,
A test or homework or an essay,
Giggling and saying,
I wonder what the teacher thinks,
When your name is written in hearts,
All over everything,
That I turn in.
I remember the songs we used to sing,
I remember sitting side by side not saying anything,
I remember everybody’s whispers,
And the looks they gave,
When they thought that we weren’t looking,
The funny thing is,
I don’t remember a single thing bout you,
Or anything bout me,
All I remember is us

And that got me thinking,
Bout how we used to be,
And I guess you could say i was in a daze,
Because everything I did the rest of that day,
It’s all a foggy haze

When I got home I made up my mind,
I would give this a try one last time,
So I picked up the phone,
And I dialed your number and I told you how

I remember how you swept me off my feet,
The dozen roses and the love songs,
Oh how sweet,
I remember movies every Friday night,
Every word of all those stupid fights,
And midnight calls,
About the silliest things,
Just to say you loved me
I remember laughing when I handed in,
A test or homework or an essay,
Giggling and saying,
I wonder what the teacher thinks,
When your name is written in hearts,
All over everything,
That I turn in.
I remember the songs we used to sing,
I remember sitting side by side not saying anything,
I remember everybody’s whispers,
And the looks they gave,
When they thought that we weren’t looking,
The funny thing is,
I don’t remember a single thing bout you,
Or anything bout me,
All I rememberis us

And you were silent,
I started crying,
Thinking you hung up,
Or didn’t care at all,
I never knew how wrong I could be,
Till you picked that phone up again,
Said,
You know this whole let’s be friends thing,
Just isn’t working out,
Because I know without a doubt

I remember how I swept you off your feet,
The dozen roses and the love songs,
I thought I was so sweet,
I remember movies every Friday night,
Every word of all those stupid fights,
And midnight calls,
About the silliest things,
Just to say I loved you,
I remember you laughing when you handed in,
A test or homework or an essay,
Giggling and saying,
You wondered what the teacher thought,
When my name was written in hearts,
All over everything,
That you turned in.
I remember the songs we used to sing,
I remember sitting side by side not saying anything,
I remember everybody’s whispers,
And the looks they gave,
When they thought that we weren’t looking,
The funny thing is,
I don’t remember a single thing bout you,
Or anything bout me,
All I remember is us

And you took my breath away,
I remember the only thing that I could say,
Was that I loved you

And then we decided we would make this work,
Just to prove everyone else wrong,
The fairytale characters would be jealous,
And we both knew we never wanted it to end,
So we decided instead of happily ever after,
We wanted,
Happily ever forever…
