Only a Matter of Time
An undefined mass of everything and nothing
Comes together and expands without measure
The darkness is light without our perception
Not yet is their fright to which souls are bounded
And within a moment by which we perceive
A nascent world takes place in a stark cloud of dust
The wind is hurling and the heat is singing
Though not yet is their flesh to engulf in the windy flames
The hurricanes form in a plane of no dimensions
And the eye is far from existence when this world is conceived
The brightness lurks over the looming cloud
Like the pride smitten father who watches his child
Yet life has not embarked on this perilous journey
And children as we know them haven’t laughed their first laughs
But slowly the process begins to commence
And from dust clouds and darkness comes joyous cries of glee
Though later there come painful yelps and mourning sighs of sorrow,
Calls to above and calls to below – Was this the first intention?
Through agony, the person lays his face upon his hands
“It was only a matter of time,” he says, “before this would have begun”
