The Gunslinger
The sun shifts
he moves his feet.
His enemies draw
their death they meet.
His eyes observe
stricken life.
Exposed by bullet
or by his knife.
His flat brimmed hat
belt slung low
coat dust brown
his weapons on show.
He smiles politely
not seeming to try.
Traversing bloodied soil
perhaps never to die.
