Might as well make friends
with the girl who has my dreams.
At least then I get a taste –
as opposed to nothing.
Can't taste anything now
but tears and ash:
decadence in a droplet.
Should I try to win this war,
I'd be the one forgotten
in the dust,
trampled under foot
like long-ago loved flowers
on the trodden dirt path
beneath Centurion sandals.

this is really good :D I like the theme... it's kinda like twist on the classic "you belong with me" thing... sort of like a resignation from the battle for affection. It's good.
