Escape
Anxiety is walking a city street
Alone on a cold winter night.
Your hands lay deep in over sized pockets,
 Your step just quickening
 With every passing moment.

 Anxiety is rapid breathing,
And the occasional glance over your shoulder.
 Another’s shadow rounds the corner
 Of a corroded brick building.

 Anxiety is the tremor
 Of your nerves awaiting
 For the figure to appear.

 Anxiety is the
 Thump
 Of every step you take
 Further away.

 Anxiety is the feeling
 Of wanting to
 Escape.
