To Be Clean MAG
She wanted so desperately ...
to be clean.
It was said that she showered three or four times a day.
The roar of the faucet ...
would disguise her tears,
And the warm water,
Was the arms that never held her ...
the parents that never listened ...
the friends she outgrew.
She would scrub and scrub at her skin,
Only to never be clean enough.
It was said that her flesh would crack under the soap,
And blood would trickle from the abrasions.
It was all right by her, though,
For this was the only proof ...
that her heart still worked.
