Pop! MAG
POP!
goes the champagne bottle
The clanking of glasses, and cheers for a new year fill the room
The glasses are downed,
and wrinkled hands beg for more
Chatter of promises, that will never be fulfilled
The colorful people, with their
tangerine shirts, and oxford blues sway back and forth,
from room to room
Again the glasses are downed, and the greedy hands
EXPECT more
The apple has fallen, and is forgotten
as plastic streamers fall around the feet of the
herd
I stand,
not affected by the colorful water.
Tempting as it is, I do not let the wanting encompass me
Spinning
dropping
The room feels unfriendly to me
Why? I ask
I am untouched by the sour grapes
I am the untainted one.
