The Rain Comes

A prayer
Answered,
An omen
Fulfilled.
The messenger
Of joy,
The bringer
Of fear.

Beautiful
And hideous,
It shows its face.
Loving
And hateful,
It descends
From some place
Above.

It bathes,
It destroys -
It's laughter,
It's screaming.
Wonderful
And feared,
It comes.

The inhabitants
Of this earth
Cry -
For happiness
Or terror?
What will happen
When it all ends?

The god,
The devil,
The thing from above -
Dare to immerse
Yourself
In it.

The rain,
The rain!
Let it wash
Your tears
Your fears
Your dreams
Away.

I'm so sorry, I'm not sure what kind of poem this is! So I just put it under "Other"...but anyway. I actually came up with the last stanza off the top of my head one day and created a poem around it. This is one of my favorites.

I'm incredibly sorry I haven't replied sooner!  I was away from TeenInk for a while.

Thank you!  And I'd love to check out your work. :)
