Words
Something inside begs to be freed
Yet it hides when I reach for it.
It tugs at heart strings, it screams at me
Until I finally agree to let it loose,
And only for a moment
Do I own it,
Only for a little while can I smile
Upon it, before it's thrust onto paper
A page, born of love or hatred,
Birthed from my mind,
Thoughts floating around to find
Themselves caught into a pen
Again wishing for freedom
And when I see them flee
From my grasp a poem is born
Like a baby torn from a mother
Who helped it grow.
Now it shows its face to the world,
Unfurls its beauty,
Free from captivity,
Unafraid of what's to come
Creating its own way.
