Maybe it meant nothing
but to me?
To me it meant the world.
But how when there's nothing?
The very thing
I thought they were based on is gone. Nothing.
The only thing
that keeps me wondering
deep into the night
as I stir restlessly in bed
is that maybe
it's never been worth it...
But maybe love is worth it.

The author's comments:
This was when my parents' fighting was part of the..er..shall we say rising action? And I thought that they didn't love one another due to al the screaming and yelling. But over time I added the last line when I saw an old couple with great grandchildren at a park by the swings. & that moment when I saw them all smile at each other with love might have changed my perspective on love itself..
