Ode to the Life of a Single Teenage Girl
A heart once broken
is easily mended
with tape and twine and glue.
But a heart unbroken
is often offended
for every wound feels fresh and new.
A tongue that rolls off
insults like raindrops
remains just so in a bind.
But one that tolls off
flatteries like pain stops
when there is something else to find.
For the lips untouched
and the walls unscaled
are always those most desired.
But to do such
leaves a heart impaled
and a love unacquired.
