A woman is like a teabag, you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water- Eleanor Roosevelt

peanut butter and jelly
spilled sticky on the sidewalk
brown and purple and funny as hell
that was a good sandwich i just dropped

violent words and ripped skirts
things said you wish you could take back
hasty hugs are had afterward
nothing lasts too long

gaudy red nail polish
painted more on skin than nails
but smiles split the smooth porcelain faces
when i marvel at such craftsmanship

pursed lips and hard-set jaws a low growl is emitted
while the other flaunts and fluffles around the room
in that sparkly new dress
that will end up in the blender

a private network of unsaid comments
hovers above the dinner table
giggles and stifled snorts
let you know you either missed something,
or you have broccoli in your teeth
