Camp

I’ve forgotten
the way we shrieked
when we spotted boys and bugs around us.
Mosquitoes bit
off our skin
while rain poured.

Lemonade we poured
as the sun scorched our skin
and we shrieked
because we hadn’t forgotten
the way it burned us
and bugs bit.

We shrieked
when we saw the boys coming towards us
and they poured
water on our skin.
So much that it wouldn’t be forgotten
as the mosquitoes bit.

We bit
into our food as the sunshine poured
on our skin
while we shrieked.
A day that wouldn’t be forgotten
in the minds of all of us.

They gave snacks to us
as we poured
the lemonade and we shrieked
in thanks. We bit
into the snacks, and made a mess on our skin
that wouldn’t be forgotten.

The rain poured like the lemonade and we shrieked.
Mosquitoes bit into our skin.
The girls wouldn’t have forgotten us.
