Growing up
Growing Up
We are a perfect fit, like the pieces of a puzzle
We match like two people's hands together, fingers laced
In the city that never sleeps neither must I
The lights of signs and buildings, the sounds of horns and shouting
Drift up to where I live, queen of my own future
My advisor by my side, but I navigate the turns of my life
In charge of my court they don't ask me where I've been or who I was with
Freedom to live and do the things I love
 No more dependence on others
Needing permission to move or even breathe
Held prisoner by those around me
Longing to break free and run
I'm not alone, but captain of the ship
Prepared to face the storms with a smile
KNowing that the challenges ahead are not impassible, but an adventure
"This will certify that the above work is completely original" Abigail Frances Dussell
