A Beautiful Sunset

I love to go the park at sunset
The clouds are beautiful
I love to look at the sky
And think about nothing
I love to smell the flowers
And I love watching the kids

I love riding to the park and seeing the flowers
Their petals the color of a sunset
They are so beautiful
I pass the kids
Who care about nothing
Their eyes mesmerized on the sky

I love sitting staring at nothing
The playground full of kids
Their eyes the color of the sky
I love watching the sunset
The colors of a flower
It is so beautiful

I love hearing the flowers
In the wind when there are no screaming kids
Even though their screams are beautiful
I love tasting the sunset
And watching the sky
With an intensity describable by nothing

I love riding home to nothing
Right after the sunset
And looking at the blank sky
The stars like little flowers
No kids
It’s still beautiful

I love the feeling of a beautiful nothing
There is no sky and there are no kids
The sunset is like a flower

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll still land among the stars.

Pretty good and deep. Love the idea of a sunset poem :)

Wow, this brings back memories. Your sestina is very nice, Jess. I like your use of "mesmerized" in the last line of the second stanza. (O-M-G! W-H-A-T?)
