Beautiful
That beautiful mouth turned down at the edges
She watched her boyfriend turn
His hair flipped with him, little ledges
Making her smile, making her yearn
To laugh with him again like she did
When he made her happy just by looking
At her, his laughing eyes like a little kid’s.
There would be a new day
A new chance, a new guy
But she didn’t want to feel this way
Again, alone on the floor, starting to cry.
It was the worst feeling she’d ever known
Like people say in their country songs
Her heart aching, no longer sewn
In perfect stitches, knowing she longed
To be his again, to belong.
In his arms, she had
The only guy who could make her feel this sad.
