Two Years
Two years ago, I tried to write a poem
With my pencil, freshly sharpened, ready to conquer the
Paper, bright and crisp, newly wrenched from the printer
So sure of this simple task
But when pencil touched pen
The long, eloquent phrases
That had been dancing inside my head
Faded away
Poured my heart out,
Drank some water
Changed the order
But to no avail.
Some people are not meant
To write poetry
To express their thoughts
In this succinct art
But here I am, two years later
Trying again
So sure that
Two years makes a difference
